Most of my work is available as fully finished prints on my Fine Art online store. I have over 2000 of my best images available there as prints as well as available on many other products from shower curtains to coffee mugs! Plus, jigsaws and note cards as well! However, a turnkey approach where everything is done for you – the printing via high quality professional print companies, matting and framing and shipping to your home with a 30-day money back guarantee is not for everyone, and I can understand that.
I received an email just the other day from someone who now lives in Bolivia and was looking for a large print of the Courthouse in Santa Barbara in California, a place he had spent many happy years. Shipping a print to Bolivia was not on the cards and so creating a digital file for him to print locally allowed him to get the image printed and framed for his wall. It was all a bit unwieldy though, managing through the process.
A new store for digital downloads of my work
That made me think that I could meet the needs of art lovers everywhere by creating a new store that allowed people simply and easily to download a digital file of my work. Those who find the fully finished products in my current store a little too expensive, or perhaps they simply prefer a different framing style that they can have created locally, can now download my work and take it to their own printing company. Walmart, CVS, Costco and others offer such services as well as online photo printing companies. With a print of their choice, they can have it framed in the local craft store.
To make things even easier, I decided to create six specific files for each image. One is the native dimensions – the choice I made for the ideal format of that image. Then I created files in the common frame sizes – 10×8, 18×24, 20×30, 16×9, and then the European A-series sizes. Each file can be printed up to 50 or 60 inches wide as they are all taken on professional digital cameras. So, when you buy a download file, you actually get these six different formats that you can choose to create your ideal piece of wall art.
This new store is on Etsy – the popular website for items that people have crafted themselves. Payments are all handled via Etsy and you get an immediate download that provides full information about how to obtain your files. The files are for personal use, not for any commercial or resale uses, of course.
I will continue to add new images to the store each day, but if there is a specific image of mine that you would like to see available, please let me know in the comments below or via my contact page.
